{ Friday's Favorite Things - God Bless America } || Evans, GA Newborn Photography

On this Friday, July 4th, I thought it was appropriate to tell you about one of my most favorite things... being an American; being born in this incredible country of ours - The United States of America; having a passport that confirms I am an American; believing that I could not do what I am doing in many other countries around this world; knowing that there is no other place I could possibly live than right here on American soil.

And I am really, really cheesy about it, too - my heart swells when our national anthem plays and I have tears in my eyes; I dress in red, white and blue on any national holiday and until they say I should do otherwise, I dress my children in red, white and blue, too.

I love a good, old hometown American parade and fireworks show.  I WILL join in with any U-S-A chant that is happening.

I have traveled to other countries and when the plane touches down back in the U.S.A, I beam with pride, because I know that being an American is a privilege; having our freedoms and living in this incredible country has come with a heavy price.  Many of my relatives have been or are still in active military duty, including my own father.

I thank every military person in uniform that I see for their service, too.  Some of the most treasured portraits I have taken are of military spouses and their children, but while I am taking them, I know that in a few weeks or days, one of the spouses is headed out for deployment, protecting and serving this incredible country.

So, on this 4th of July, I say, "Thank you" to everyone who has served or is currently serving our country.  I also say, "God Bless the USA!"

{ Friday's Favorite Things - Where I like to Shop } || Aiken, SC Photographer

Thredup.com is my go-to site for clothes shopping!  They market themselves as "Shop used in a brand new way".

If I worked for Thredup.com, my marketing campaign would be "We are Fabulous".  I know, I know... I will stick to taking portraits.

BUT I have to look fabulous doing it and why pay full price?!?  What I really love about them is once you enter in your email address (by the way, always with a HUGE discount on the first time - more discounts - LOVE!), they ask you to set up a personal shop.

You can enter in your sizes and then you don't have to go through the racks and racks of clothes - they customize the site to hit your particular size!  I always find the site easy to navigate and once I place my order, the clothes arrive within a week.

I can't take the credit for finding this fabulous site, I have to say that I found them through Money Saving Moms (another fabulous site).  So, go right now to Thredup.com, sign up and change your summer wardrobe today!

Augusta, GA Newborn Photographer || {Friday's Favorite Things - Medusa Hair }

Ok, Ok, Ok.... Last week I told you about my addiction to coffee.  This week, I tell you about my addiction to making my hair go from one extreme to the other:  Paul Mitchell's Super Skinny Serum.  Seriously, I said that I couldn't live without my coffee, but I can not live without this hair product.

I don't know Paul personally, but if I ever did meet him, I would give him a big ol' hug and thank him for this serum.  My hair is naturally curly, but not in a glamorous- "Oh, this hair... all I do is through a little water on it and it just curls like this... every last strand of hair knows exactly where to go" - way.  Wait, does anyone really have hair like that??  I digress...

Having a thick head of curly hair has been great in my life, but there have been some moments when I just wish it were a bit more tamed - Viola! Paul Mitchell's Super Skinny Serum!

This truly has changed the time I spend on my morning routine.  Now, if only I could find a magic serum to bath my dog!!!  www.MaryBethsPhotography.com

Augusta, GA Newborn Photographer || {Friday's Favorite Things - Coffee }

Coffee, coffee, coffee... somedays (probably more than I care to admit), it truly is the thing that gets me out of bed - knowing that with one click of my Keurig, the hot water will flow through one of my favorite K-cups and make that incredible noise and smell of "awakeness" brewing!

It is true; I thought I would be a hold-out for a Keurig, but after a surprise Christmas gift from my Mom, I decided to jump on the bandwagon and haven't looked back.  Now, there truly isn't a day that goes by when my coffee adventures can bring me from Starbucks to the Green Mountains (Coffee - that is!).

Visit my house on any given day and you may find a Green Mountain Coffee Hazelnut coffee in the mix or a Half-Calf K-cup (when it is a two-cup day, but my body can only handle one full cup of caffeine) or a Creme Brulee-kind of fancy morning!!!  I couldn't survive without my Keurig - so much so, we travel with it on vacation - too much information for you???  Just wait until you see next week's Friday's favorite things....  www.MaryBethsPhotography.com

Augusta, GA Newborn Photographer II Logan 6 Months Old

Logan is a member of my First Year Moments Plan and he came to my studio for his 6 month session this past Saturday! It is always such a treat to see how these babies grow and change! The last time I saw him he was just a newborn! Now, he is sitting up, smiling and trying to grab for everything near him to look at or insert in his mouth, as he is teething!!  His mom sent me some outfit ideas and themes she wanted to incorporate and this is where my creative juices start to flow! Planning out your session lets it flow and take life to make it a unique experience for you! Here is a peek into our session.....

Augusta, Ga Newborn Photography II Luke's 1 Year Cake Smash

I can hardly believe that this little guy is going to be one! My how the year has flown by!! It have been such a pleasure working with Luke's family and getting to know them! My clients become like family to me! Luke's family is big into biking and in fact his dad works at a local bike shop in town. So, we thought it was appropriate to do a bicycle theme for his cake smash!! How fun!! Poor Luke was not that much into his cake, but we did get some cute shots anyways!!
