Augusta, GA Newborn Photographer || {Friday's Favorite Things - Coffee }

Coffee, coffee, coffee... somedays (probably more than I care to admit), it truly is the thing that gets me out of bed - knowing that with one click of my Keurig, the hot water will flow through one of my favorite K-cups and make that incredible noise and smell of "awakeness" brewing!

It is true; I thought I would be a hold-out for a Keurig, but after a surprise Christmas gift from my Mom, I decided to jump on the bandwagon and haven't looked back.  Now, there truly isn't a day that goes by when my coffee adventures can bring me from Starbucks to the Green Mountains (Coffee - that is!).

Visit my house on any given day and you may find a Green Mountain Coffee Hazelnut coffee in the mix or a Half-Calf K-cup (when it is a two-cup day, but my body can only handle one full cup of caffeine) or a Creme Brulee-kind of fancy morning!!!  I couldn't survive without my Keurig - so much so, we travel with it on vacation - too much information for you???  Just wait until you see next week's Friday's favorite things....  www.MaryBethsPhotography.com

Augusta, Ga Newborn Photography II Luke's 1 Year Cake Smash

I can hardly believe that this little guy is going to be one! My how the year has flown by!! It have been such a pleasure working with Luke's family and getting to know them! My clients become like family to me! Luke's family is big into biking and in fact his dad works at a local bike shop in town. So, we thought it was appropriate to do a bicycle theme for his cake smash!! How fun!! Poor Luke was not that much into his cake, but we did get some cute shots anyways!!

Augusta GA Family Photographer II Patton's 2nd Birthday

Patton came to visit me at my studio for his 2 year old portraits! Such a cutie he is, but like all 2 year olds...not really wanting his portrait taken! :) So, we let him get used to the studio and warm up with MONSTER TRUCKS.....A little boy's happiness can be found in these trucks! Once he started playing and getting a little more comfortable with the new environment, we starting coaxing him over to the little stool.  His mom had a special request to recreate a portrait that had been taken when she was little with the same outfit. Here is that portrait and some peeks from our session!!  We were able to get a quick family portrait with Dad who serves our country and is away a lot! So thankful for those who serve our country!!

Augusta, GA Newborn Photographer II Delaney Sneek Peak 9 Month Sesssion

I had a great time with these sweet girls on Saturday! It was a beautiful day and the weather was perfect for outdoor portraits, as well as the azaleas are in full bloom! This is such a sweet family and Lindsay is so good at coordinating outfits and colors!

Delaney is 9 months and on my 1st Year Moments Plan, so I have been able to watch her grow throughout the year and document the big milestones for her parents! I am so lucky to do what I do and feel honored to be able to do this for my clients!

{ Hammond’s Ferry + The Movius Family = A Perfect Session! }

I can’t even begin to explain how much it means when I receive a client due to a referral; I firmly believe it is the highest form of a compliment.

Spencer’s Mom referred the Movius Family to me this past summer.  Their daughter was turning 5 and they wanted to record this time in their lives with professional portraits.

I always encourage families to do that – capture this beautiful time with portraits.

The Movius Family and I met at Hammond’s Ferry and I brought my fabulous red couch.

I love having the opportunity to speak with families before portraits are taken so that we can discuss expectations and great ideas!  I can also help figure out clothing and props!    www.MaryBethsPhotography.com

{ On-Location Photo Session with an Amazing Family }

The Ayres Family is just so amazing.

I have been doing their portraits for a number of years and Rose Ayres has been organizing my home through her company Organized Living; I can’t even believe how she transforms my life in just a few short hours!

Ryan and Madeline are just so adorable.  We did an on-location portrait session, which they recommended to me.

I couldn’t believe how scenic the area was in their neighborhood. Beautiful!  I just loved seeing them and am so thankful for their being in my life.  Who inspires you?  www.MaryBethsPhotography.com

{ Sweet, Adorable Harper in My Studio }

Oh my goodness!!!  I get so excited when I am taking portraits of cousins, family members and friends.

I love hearing stories about the different families and seeing the love radiate from them when they talk about their relatives.

This was no different when I was taking portraits of sweet Harper.  Harper’s Grandma is an administrative assistant at Belevedere Elementary School, where my children attend and Harper’s Mom was a Mother’s Day winner.

I had taken portraits of Harper’s cousin Ella, so I was just delighted when I was able to take Harper’s 6 month portraits.  And what a blessing my studio is, especially on rainy days!  Wow!

If I didn’t have this incredible studio, we would have had to reschedule Harper’s session.  What a session full of smiles and sweetness – adorable Harper!  www.MaryBethsPhotography.com

{ A New Year 2014 - A New Look and New Changes.... }

So each year I love to look back at the previous year and decide what changes I want to make in my personal life and in my business and what things I thought went well and were grateful for! It is a time of reflection for me and a time to renew my spirit! It is a sense of a clean slate if you will, when a New Year approaches. A time of great gratitude for the things accomplished and time spent with friends! I love the holidays just as much as I like the newness the New Year brings.

With reflecting back, it was a year of growth for my business! The addition of my studio proved to be a wonderful one throughout the year and I am feeling excited that the final touches continue to be added. I met many new faces this year and loved catching up with my existing clients. I  was able to get my baby fix by capturing the newness of life with newborns. I saw couples who were  two unique individuals taking vows and  becoming husband and wife several times this year. What wonderful celebrations I was hired to record. I was able to update family portraits and follow children as they changed throughout their first year! What wonders come from taking moments and capturing them for people to forever have!

Portraits to me are something that are truly priceless.....for when we go to be with God and leave our earthly bodies, our families will have portraits and any video that was taken to remember us by. It is nice to have a piece of jewelry or something special that our loved one gave us, but pictures are what I treasure the most. Isn't that what everyone says they will run back into a burning house to get? Those priceless pictures and portraits are our beloved treasures.... I learned this all to well this year with my father passing away. The last image I have of my father with me is the one below taken on Father's Day by my husband. I am not normally insistent on having myself in portraits, but perhaps deep down I knew the time was drawing close for my dad. I wanted one more picture with him.... I made him what he requested for Father's Day and made sure we captured "that " moment in time for me to forever have. One more moment I can look back on.  That is truly what portraits give you...."that" moment to forever look back and remember. To me you see, portraits are a gift.... a gift of precious moments.

So, as I have reflected on the year, I have a happy heart in knowing that I have given those type of gifts to my clients. I am thankful to all of you for allowing me this important job and thank you for supporting me as I continue this journey. You are what makes Mary Beth's Photography possible!

With a New Year, of course I love to make changes to what I think would benefit my clients and myself, to make Mary Beth's Photography even better. With a business, change is always happening to make things run smoother, to offer more and to continue to grow! You have seen the first change with my new logo and I am loving it! The second big change I would like to announce is that I will be now focusing on my true love of newborns, children and families! I have loved photographing weddings and will do a very limited amount on special request, but my passion has really evolved with newborns, children and families! I am also only going to be a natural light studio and natural light on location photographer only....for that is why I built my studio with 2 huge 5x5 windows. I just love the way it looks and as each photographer finds their path, this has always been my love....the beautiful light from outdoors illuminating my studio! There will be some more changes to come, but these are the first three I would like to share with the New Year now here! I look forward to many new wonderful experiences to come in 2014!
